MEET THE TEAM
Kia ora! Sybill founded Vanora founded in 2017, after spending time in the US and UK working as an equine-assisted therapist. Sybill is trained in the Eagala model and has a Bachelor of Social Services, Specialising in Counselling. Sybill is registered with New Zealand Counsellors Association, as well as ACC Sensitive Claims Provider. Sybill is committed to provide opportunities to partner with horses to help people.
At a young age, Sybill grew up around horses and felt it was always ok to take her thoughts and worries to them, that they would listen and not judge. Those early years and the experiences with horses is the foundation for why she believes so strongly that horses can heal people.
Sybill also has an office in Dunedin where she offers 1:1 counselling, private and ACC Sensitive Claims. Tilly, the therapy dog is an essential part to the office sessions- she offers cuddles, or will just sleep close by. Kiritaki (clients) often share how calming and grounding it is.
THE HORSES
There are six horses in the Vanora herd, of different sizes, ages and backgrounds.
They bring with them curiosity, authenticity, honesty and provide the space for people to gain new insight into their life and the world around them.
"If you let me into your inner world, I will show you, and through this, change is possible".
